Stair Designs

Winder Stairs have pie shaped steps, not very safe (ankel breaker), and is used when there is not enough space available for "L" Stairs.
"U" Stairs have one landing, flights are parallel and have a 180 degrees turn.
Double "L" Stairs have two landings, so two turns, used when no space is available for Straight Run Stairs or "L" Stairs, also more expensive and breaks up floor plan.
Straight Run Stairs are the most commom stairs, no turns, less expensive because uses less material, and requires a long open space.
"L" Stairs have one landing, one turn at 90 degrees, and is used when space is not available for Straight Run Stairs.
Circular Stairs have a irregular curve or arc, trapiziodal shaped steps,, and most expensive to built because has to be custom built.

Roof Designs

The Shed roof is similar to the shed roof but has a steeper pitch. Frequently used for addtions or combinations with other roof types.
The Mansard roof is a French roof, and becoming more popular. Is difficult to build but has great lines.
The Hip roof, is slightly more difficult to build, but is still a popular roof. Does not ventilate well and increases the chance for leakage because of the hips and valleys.
The Gambrel roof, also known as the Barn roof provided additional head room. It is known as the Barn roof because used extensively on barns.
The Gable roof is a very popular roof: is easy to build, sheds water well, good ventilation, and is applicable to many house shapes and designs. The Folded Panel roof, is a contemporary design, and is most popular with motels and small commercial buildings.
The Flat roof is the most economical roof to construct. More common is warmer areas, where there is less snow.

The Dutch Hip roof is a variation of a standard Hip roof with a Gable section at the peak; which provides more space and/or ventilation.
Curved Panel roofs add dimension to roofs and walls.
The Butterfly roof provides plenty of light and ventilation, but drainage is a problem, so not suitable for wetter climates.

The A-Frame roof provided walls as well as a roof. The roof is very steep so perfect for wetter conditions.
